Mary Anne Jones, owner of Bluff Creek Stables, a skilled equestrian in her own right, realized a life long dream when she opened the doors to Bluff Creek Stables.  With careful planning and an eye for detail, she methodically designed and supervised the construction of a physical facility that is state of the art.  She created a thriving  and exciting equestrian program that today is one of the premier training and boarding programs in the southeast.  A key to her success and to the continued growth and prosperity is her total involvement in all phases of the management and operation of her barn.
With unparalleled grace and a warm personality she welcomes all riders of all ages and riding ability to join with her in the enjoyment of Bluff Creek.
With the support of her husband, Billy, and her sons, Jason and Graham, Mary Anne enjoys her involvement in the horse business. Mary Anne is  still competing in the show ring and enjoys showing her saddlebreds regardless of the discipline ~ Saddleseat, Hunt Seat , or Western ~ and most vacations have some type of riding involved whether it's in the mountains or on the beaches - a passion she has never outgrown.

Bluff Creek Stables is proud to welcome back Deanna Edgy as trainer/instructor. Deanna grew up on St. Simons Island where she learned to ride from Marvin Long and Amy Kutrufis at Sea Island Stables. She started her career at 14 when she began working for Sea Island Stables as a trail guide. By age 20 she had become assistant barn manager and was teaching lessons and working horses in all disciplines. At Sea Island she worked with many breeds and became interested in American Saddlebreds.  Jim and Kay Harrell of Pinetree Stables had recently retired to St. Simons from Illinois and had brought several young Saddlebreds with them. Always trying to improve her skills, Deanna picked up many training tips and techniques by observing and helping them with their horses. While still working at Sea Island Stables, Deanna further developed her skills with show horses working as assistant trainer for Chan Sutton at his Oaklane Farm.

In 2002, Deanna left her position at Sea Island Stables to team up with Mary Anne Jones for the grand opening of Bluff Creek Stables, assuming the position of trainer and instructor there. They quickly attracted a growing customer base and filled the main barn and had to add an additional 35 stalls for a total of 42 stalls.  For the next five years Bluff Creek grew and developed a strong lesson program and successful show string

Due to her husband’s career in the military, Deanna had to leave Bluff Creek in 2007 with her husband’s transfer to Fort Riley, Kansas. Continuing her equestrian career, Deanna took a job at Flinthill Arabians where she was involved with a large Arabian breeding program and training and exhibiting Arabian Halter horses.

After three years in the Mid-West, the Edgys headed back to the Southeast to Troy, Alabama, where Deanna became stable manager at Pinkard Pastures, a large hay and cattle operation. Benny and Krissy Pinkard gave Deanna valuable training in cattle and hay management as well as teaching her how to work cutting horses. “FUN!” Krissy also brushed up her hunter/jumper skills and they exhibited on a regular basis.

In 2011, Deanna and her husband, 1st Sgt Gannon Edgy and two precious daughters, Ella, age 7 and Ava, age 4 returned to Fort Stewart and Deanna took the position of Lesson barn Manager and instructor at Karl Hirschorn’s Stables at Frederica on St. Simons Island (formerly the new Sea Island Stables).

When the position of trainer instructor became available at Bluff Creek, Deanna accepted it with delight. Coming full circle back to Bluff Creek, and here to stay… Deanna is enjoying her family and the wonderful opportunity Mary Anne has given her.

"Here at Bluff Creek we work as a team and have a great time.”  Deanna says with a smile. “It just feels so natural for me to be back at Bluff Creek.”
